The University's roots stem from 1952, when Hertfordshire County Council built Hatfield Technical College. The college rapidly became a centre of excellence in mechanical and aeronautical engineering and the natural sciences. We have celebrated as our reputation has grown year on year, both at home and overseas. With over 2,500 staff and a turnover of more than £160 million, we are one of the largest employers in the region. Our student community exceeds 24,000, including more than 2,000 international students from over 85 different countries. The University has a global network of over 100,000 alumni.
